Door Safety
Switch Assembly

The AXR heavy duty primary door safety interlock switch assembly is designed for use on radiation safe enclosures having a personnel access sliding or hinged door. The door safety switch assembly switch case has two sets of heavy duty contacts, the shorting bar assembly, is mounted on the movable door and is in series with the primary circuit of the x-ray control.

When the door closes, the shorting bar assembly mates with the switch box assembly, closing the x-ray primary circuit allowing x-ray to be generated. When the door is open, the x-ray primary circuit opens, not allowing x-ray generation. Should the door be opened during x-ray generation, x-ray emission is immediately terminated. Where personnel may enter any enclosure, or when a radiation safe cabinet is in use, the Heavy Duty Door Safety Interlock Switch Assembly is mandated by federal Regulation 1020.40 21 CRF.
